My baby girl isn't a baby anymore and I regretfully admit that we have been treating her as such. We slipped into that because she doesn't do the same things as a typical three-year-old. She is behind her peers with DS too. It is what it is when it comes to her development (I accept that), but we slipped into not thinking about her as growing up. And for that I feel guilty. There is no reason she should be in a crib or a high chair anymore. Even in this photo you can tell she doesn't look like a baby, but we have been treating her as such. Time for some changes....

She is getting to be such a big girl, but she'll always be your baby girl!! She is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have a baby boy who is one and a half, and i must say the task of being a parent although difficult is the highest blessing one could have, and the opportunity to give back to life what life and the world has given us - it also makes me respect and love my own parents much more, and know the value of their merits, generosity and kindness
ReplyDeleteReading your story reminded me of how my parents kept me back by a year to let me catch up socially in school, due to severe hearing impairment. As long as your Quinn is ok, all is good with her.
ReplyDeleteIt's been over 30 years, since I was in school and I'm fine, socially. I'm now completely deaf, but with cochlear implants, functions even better.
Keep up with the good work!
